Machine Embroidery Checklist

Posted by Sofiyah Layton on

Here is a helpful guide to assist you in producing flawless embroidery results every time!

Whether your a beginner embroider or an experienced embroiderer this checklist can help keep you organized when working on projects.

Even though I have embroidered thousands of times I like to have this guide handy by my machine.

When testing out new machine embroidery designs that I have digitized I always follow this checklist.

Machine Embroidery Checklist

  1. Choose correct stabilizer for the project type

  2. Are you going to use test fabric first (recommended)

  3. Hoop fabric and stabilizer

  4. Does it need a topper?

  5. Is the correct thread in the needle?

  6. Are there any puckers in the hoop?

  7. Is the fabric tight like a drum?

  8. Is the correct thread in the needle?

  9. Have replacement filled bobbins ready

  10. How often does the thread break (if it does break)

  11. Embroidery pattern positioned correctly on the sewn product?

  12. Does there appear to be any distortion of the sewn pattern?

  13. Are there any missed stitches due to thread breakage that need to be repaired?

  14. Are stitches formed properly (not too loose or too tight)?

  15. Trim away threads

  16. Unhoop, and steam away hoop marks if needed

I hope this was helpful and useful for you and if there any steps you think I missed and you want to let me know. Please feel free to contact me with what you think I should add at  cs@embroiderybysofi.com
